"WHEN I GROW UP, I WANT TO WRITE STORIES"...
...said the little girl, absent-mindedly twirling the tail of her My Little Pony.
Fast-forward a few decades and that pony is long gone (sold at a mid-90s car boot sale, sadly), but the desire to write stories still drives me.
I'm a talented London-based copywriter with 12 years' industry experience.
After graduating with Honours in English and Music from Leeds University,
I worked in production before landing my first writing job. Having suspected that I'd make a much better creative than a suit, I was glad to prove it.
And prove it I did, writing the best direct mail copy the world had ever seen*.
So good, in fact, it got me noticed by Yorkshire's top ad agency who promptly hired me to work on their shiny new luxury make-up brand, Illamasqua.
Not bad for a shiny new copywriter.
Having devised ideas for everything from smoky eyeshadow to sausage rolls,
I moved to London to join Leo Burnett's luxury division, atelier. The pain of losing that My Little Pony slowly began to dwindle.
Four years at Leo's was followed by a stint at McCann and another at Grey. Now you'll find me at Mullen Lowe, working on a vast array of brands (none of
them horse shaped).
Who needs My Little Ponies anyway?
Brands include: Post Office, L'Oreal, British Heart Foundation, Aussie,
Max Factor, Dorchester Collection, TRESemmé, Knorr.
