"WHEN I GROW UP, I WANT TO WRITE STORIES"
...said the little girl, absent-mindedly twirling the tail of her My Little Pony.
Fast-forward a few decades and that pony is long gone - lost to a 90s car boot sale - but the desire to write stories still drives me.
I'm a talented London-based Creative Director with 18 years' industry experience.
After graduating with Joint Honours in English & Music from Leeds University, I worked
in production before landing my first writing job. Suspecting I'd make a much better creative than a suit, I was glad to prove it.
And prove it I did, writing DM copy so good it got me noticed by Leeds' top ad agency, who promptly hired me to work on their shiny new make-up brand, Illamasqua.
Not bad for a shiny new copywriter.
Having devised ideas for smoky eyeshadow to sausage rolls, I moved to London to join Leo Burnett's luxury division, atelier. The loss of that My Little Pony began to fade.
Four years at Leo's was followed by a stint at McCann and another at Grey. Then three years at MullenLowe, working on a vast array of brands (none of them pony shaped, although I did do a shoot with a horse once).
After taking a break to travel the world in 2019, I knew something had to change. I needed to use my creative powers for good. So I joined Flag - a specialist sustainability agency. A year and a half learning exactly what ESG was left me educated but still craving creativity that did something...
And that's when I found Futerra. An agency with real purpose and a belief that storytelling can create a healthier, fairer, better future for all. Working with some of the planet's biggest brands, to Make the Anthropocene Awesome. I'm yet to work out what role My Little Ponies have in saving the world, but watch this space.
Brands worked on across my career include: Apple, ABinBev, Post Office, L'Oreal, British Heart Foundation, Aussie, Max Factor, Dorchester Collection, TRESemmé, Knorr.
